The Baells reservoir and lakeside setting
Vilada enjoys a privileged position on the shore of the Baells reservoir, the main artificial lake of Berguedà. Its waters, surrounded by pine forests, offer a serene landscape that changes with the seasons: intense blue in summer, golden tones in autumn, and an almost mystical atmosphere when winter mists settle over the water.
The reservoir allows licensed sport fishing for various species including carp, black bass and pike. The calm waters are also suitable for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, though motor boats are not permitted, preserving the peaceful atmosphere. The accessible shoreline areas near Vilada provide pleasant spots for picnics and relaxation during the warmer months, with the mountains reflected perfectly in the still water.
The village and its character
Vilada is a village of stone houses with slate roofs, quiet streets and an unhurried pace of life. The church of Sant Esteve, of Romanesque origin with later modifications, presides over the nucleus. The village square with its fountain and plane trees serves as the meeting point for locals.
In summer, the population multiplies with the arrival of families seeking the cool of the mountains and the calm of the reservoir. Many own second homes here or rent one of the rural houses scattered through the municipality. The permanent residents maintain agricultural and forestry activities, keeping the working landscape alive. Vilada exemplifies the authentic Berguedà village - modest, welcoming and deeply connected to its landscape.

The trail through mixed forests provides shade and constantly changing views of the water and surrounding peaks.
